HYGGE: Getting cozy with Isobel Hamilton

One of the best things about group shows is meeting new artists. We met Isobel Hamilton last year during our SOS (Sand Ocean Sky) group show last year, and since then she's participated in Pre-Shrunk 2018 and Hygge. There's a beautiful range in Isobel's work as far as subject matter and materials go, but her pieces are always considered and well executed. Her pieces for Hygge are no exception to that.

For Hygge Isobel produced a beautiful body of work that truly embodies the warmth and comforts of the hygge concept through light and food.

Isobel Hamilton, Candles and Jars, 16"x12", Acrylic on Board

No, it's not a photograph - Isobel has just created a beautiful warm glow within these beautifully articulated mason jars.

Isobel Hamilton, Starry Lantern, 8"x10", Acrylic on Board

A little starlight perhaps?

Or the warm glow at a campsite?

Isobel Hamilton, Tea with Lemon, 8"x8", Acrylic on Board

Tea with a spot of lemon is the ultimate comfort.

Isobel Hamilton, Cherry Pie, 6"x6", Acrylic on Board

Is there any simple pleasure greater than a slice of cherry pie?

Isobel's pieces are worth seeing in person if you're in need of a smile and some warmth.

Hygge runs at the gallery until March 7th, and you can see the full show online HERE.
